Waterman 15 Sterling Silver Filigree 1st Issue 1905. 14K F Flex Nib. Ultra Rare
Waterman 15 Sterling Silver Filigree 1st Issue. 14K EF Flex Nib. Works as when new. Pen has ZERO Cracks etc. Ultra Rare Early Nib. Made in New York, USA 1905-06. What a beautiful pen. Superb size and weight also. Much wider than the 12 and 14 models to accommodate the huge size 5 nib. These filigree 15 became the 415 by 1906 and were eventually replaced by the 455. The model 15 is a rare size. Not as oversize as the 16 or 18. My idea of the perfect sized pen. This fabulous pen is ready and willing to work everyday like any new pen. Only this 112 year old can write so beautifully NOTHING on the current market can even dream to compete. Its ULTRA rare number 5 Straight line NEW YORK Large Font Imprint Nib is as early as they get. This is the same imprint as used in 1905 advertisement and illustrations. It is also the Nib imprint found on early filling instruction paperwork with its straight line New York. (New York was written as a curved arch imprint by 1907). This Pen is a TRUE first issue. This wonderful Solid Sterling Silver Filigree pen is early issue pre 415 and is stamped 15 on tail end. The Silver work is all Hand Made. This is a RARE and beautiful Filigree pattern. The silverwork has ZERO repairs or damage etc… Its Waterman’s Ideal Fountain Pen and Sterling Imprints are deep as when New. This pen has not been polished or restored. I cleaned the Silver back to bright using a non abrasive that does not effect the BHR (Black Hard Rubber) Pen underneath. Silverwork has no Dents, Deep Scratches or Bite Marks etc. Has the usual micro wear you would expect of this age. VERY rare to find such clean CRISP silver work on these early Filigree pens. Without doubt this is the best silver I have seen. The silver is also thicker than when they made them 1920s etc. (I hope it comes across in the photo details). It has wonderful weight when posted cap on tail. The Caps Dome top is also dent free which is rare at these often get caved in. The BHR parts are also Crack, Splits and Repair free. Superb honest general patina of age throughout. Has warmed a touch in places as you would expect of this age to a wonderful Dark Chocolate. The tail end has a few light signs of posting Cap on Tail as you would expect. Overall once in the hand to the naked eye looks fabulous still. This pen has always been looked after, Rarely used and Never abused. A TRUE survivor indeed. 112 years old yet works as well today as the day it was born. Handsome to look at and Phenomenal to write with. As handsome as this pen undoubtedly is it writes even better. Flex nibs do not get anymore creative than this. 14C F Nib is a real JOT to use. Writes with a very elegant Fine line that has Extra Fine Line side stroke. A nib for the writing Connoisseur. This nib can flex from Fine to Double Broad on the down stroke when varying levels of pressure is applied. The flex is not soft, loose or twitchy. Only flexes upon user command never by itself.. Of course such RARE early nibs should never be placed in the hands of a complete fountain pen novice if you intend to write with it. Such creative Fine Flex nibs need to be respected for the rare treasure they are. You can not simply write up and down side to side with carefree abandon whilst full flexing as the Nib will dig in then spray ink dots of protest until finally crossing its Tines like fingers in hope more than anything of a reprieve from the butcher holding it to finally let go.. However once in the hand of an experienced flex writer this thoroughbred nib will write so creatively that it simply leaves all competition in its dust! The pen is an Eye Dropper filler. To fill with bottled ink could not be easier. Simply unscrew off the front section (part you hold when writing) from barrel. Now take an eye dropper or Pipette full of ink and squirt it directly inside the Barrel (Pens body) until 80-90percent full. Now simply screw back on the front section. Takes 5 seconds and last forever it seems. These hold an enormous amount of ink so only need filling rarely. Fully serviced and cleaned and tested. Comes ready to write just add your favorite colour bottled ink… Perfect as a gift or treat yourself to a wonderful collectible fountain pen that can be used and enjoyed daily… Please view all the Photographs they form large part of the description. All photographs are of actual pen. What you see is everything you receive. Any boxes or papers will ALWAYS be photographed if included. Fed Ex is also available.
