An 1861 copy of a “Freedom of London” certificate on parchment (39cm x 8cm) rolled to fit into a cylindrical Treen box (10.5cm x 3.2cm) labelled “Copy of Freedom City of London”. (The original of which was lodged in the London Guildhall in 1844). The face of the document has the printed crest of the City of London on the left hand side, covering 7cm, with the rest of the document pre-written in copperplate excepting for the details and date of the issuing, being handwritten in Pen and ink. The following is the wording with the handwritten content in. Note that a Loriner is a maker of small iron articles such as stirrups, spurs and horse bits. Was admitted into the Freedom aforesaid and made the Declaration required by Law in the Mayoralty of William Cubitt Esquire MC Mayor and Benjamin Scott Esquire Chamberlain and is entered in the book signed with the Letter R relating to the purchasing of Freedoms and the admissions of Freemen (to wit) the 29th day of January in the 24th Year of the reign of Queen Victoria, and in the Year of our Lord 1861. Witness whereof the Seal of the office of Chamberlain of the said City is hereunto affixed dated in the Chamber of the Guildhall of the same City the day and Year above said.
