Designed by, and made in collaboration with, American Actor Sylvester Stallone, this pen is truly amazing… Reflecting Mr Stallone’s artistic expression, and embodying all sorts of disparate notions and feelings, from the chaos of the pre-universe state, to the Skull, the Snake, the Lizard, to the vast diversity of life and attributed to death. This pen featured in a cameo role in his movie The Expendibles. All the intricate details of the pen, either engraved or skillfully cut-out on both caps and barrels, have been meticulously researched by Montegrappa’s designers, and they retell Mr Stallone’s artistic direction. This fountain pen is adorned with an 18k gold Fine nib, finely engraved in a special design. Antiqued sterling silver filigree/cut-out over a pearlized grey-back celluloid cap and barrel. Antiqued sterling silver trim. Antiqued sterling silver clip in the form of a sword. Piston filler, operated by the blind cap knob at the bottom end of the barrel. Cap closure is simple screw-on system. Length closed is around 14.8cm, length open is around 13.8cm, width at widest point on cap (excluding the clip) is 2.0cm, and weight empty is around 130 grams (this is a heavy pen). An important note regarding the nib and writing performance of this fountain pen. A fountain pen nib can be a joy to write with, provided it has been tuned properly. Unfortunately factory settings are not optimal for some fountain pens that are new “out of the box”, and occasionally tuning is required. It may need some tuning. Then I will wash the nib unit and dry it. In this way I can be sure the pen will write correctly…….. BUT sometimes there some residual water/ink will find its way down the feeder during courier air travel.
