The Gentleman was Waterman’s flagship line before the introduction of the Le Man series and remains one of the most respected pens of the late 20th century. This particular model is crafted from solid. 925 sterling silver, featuring the elegant “Godron” or vertical fluted pinstripe pattern. The cap is typically hallmarked with the French “Crab” symbol or “925” to certify the silver’s purity. It has a substantial, executive weight and features the signature 1970s-style Waterman clip with a hollow center slit.

For your consideration, we are pleased to offer for sale this circa 1997 Waterman Gentleman Sterling Silver Rollerball Pen, beautifully executed in the classic fluted pattern, accompanied by its original Waterman box and literature. This elegant writing instrument has been carefully cleaned and polished, and a new blue rollerball refill has been installed, making it immediately ready for use. The sterling silver cap and barrel are in superb condition, showing no dings, dents, or repairs. The cap secures firmly to the barrel via a friction fit, just as it was designed to. Accenting the silver body is the striking 23K gold electroplated clip and cap band, both of which display no wear and retain a rich, bright finish. The cap band is stamped “WATERMAN MADE IN FRANCE” and bears the appropriate French hallmark, confirming its quality and origin. There are no monograms or personalizations present anywhere on the pen. This Waterman Gentleman is fully hallmarked on the cap, section, and barrel with French sterling silver marks. While the Gentleman model was officially produced from 1974 through 1997, this example is consistent with a later mid- to late-1990s production. The pen measures 5 5/8 inches capped and 6 1/4 inches posted, offering a balanced, comfortable feel in hand. The newly installed blue ink refill has been tested and writes exactly as expected-smooth, consistent, and effortless. A timeless design from one of France’s most respected pen makers, this Waterman Gentleman Sterling Silver Rollerball is presented with its original box and documentation, both in excellent condition. I would confidently grade this pen as Mint, making it a wonderful choice for daily use, a refined gift, or a standout addition to a serious Waterman or sterling silver writing instrument collection. Please review all my images as they are part of the description. If you have any questions, please ask. I have other restored fountain pens for sale, if you have the time, please look through my listings. Always happy to consider your offers. I spend a great deal of time traveling, talking with people, sitting at auctions and waiting in line at estate sales to find these pieces. Some of the items are “farm fresh” and some I have had in my possession for years and time to let others enjoy. If I can find out, I will. These are antiques so expect them not to be “perfect”. Items: I do not clean most items for fear of harm. I will do my best to help you. If you want faster service, please contact me to receive a quote. I do pack carefully, I do not want them to arrive broken. Please make sure they do, if not please request it, if you would like it added.
