The CP4 series of Civil War pens bears witness to the imaginative originality of Classic Pens, the fastidious craftsmanship of Murelli and the technical precision and expertise of Sheaffer. It was released in 1997 and commemorated the American Civil War, there were two pens in the collection, the Richmond representing the capital of the Confederates and the Washington, representing the Union. A gorgeous and luxurious Sheaffer Legacy fountain Pen in Sterling Silver, decorated with an interrupted barleycorn pattern and a wide Vermeil Cap Band. Lovely Sheaffer Legacy in sterling silver with interrupted barleycorn pattern; very little evidence of use. I would call it micro-wear. No scratches, scrapes, dings, etc. If you think you see anything like that in the pictures, it’s a trick of the lighting. In the main photo, if it appears there is a small gap between the end cap and the barrel, that is definitely a lighting issue — the end cap seats exactly as it should. I bought it new in the’90s for my large collection and used it only a few times. The Touchdown filler operates properly and the pen writes beautifully — very smooth on the paper and a nice moderate ink laydown from its Medium 18K nib. The nib is stamped SHEAFFER 18K 750 ® and something in a horizontal oval that I cannot make out. The cap band is stamped 925 STERLING SILVER SHEAFFER USA and, in a horizontal oval, STE. PF or is that PP? So that’s probably also what’s stamped on the nib. The cap seats firmly and securely when capping; it seats securely when posting. The pen is 5 3/8 long when capped. This is a beautiful pen in exceptional condition. I have enjoyed owning and using it, and I think you will, too. For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Never Inked Sheaffer Legacy White Dot Sterling Silver Fountain Pen in the Interrupted Barleycorn Pattern fitted with an 18K Solid Gold Signature Stub Nib. This fountain pen has never been inked and always contained in the box from a non-smoking home. I consider this pen in Mint Condition with original box with Sheaffer accessories. This Sheaffer Legacy displays the Interrupted Barleycorn Pattern Fountain Pen in Sterling Silver with 23K gold electroplated trim, fitted with a solid 18K/750 gold nib. The cap and barrel have absolutely no damage, dents, wear to the finish. This fountain pen has never been inked and in Mint Condition. This Fountain Pen measures 5 1/2″ inches capped and 5 3/4″ posted. This writing instrument is a Sheaffer Legacy Fountain Pen and is model number 848 with production beginning in 1997. Again, this Sheaffer Legacy is like new as it has never been inked. The cap has 23K gold electroplated trim with the spring-loaded clip. “SHEAFFER USA” stamped on the sides of the cap clip. The cap banding is also 23K gold electroplated and stamped, SHEAFFER U. This Sheaffer has the Touchdown Filling system and works as it was designed to – I tested with water and works perfectly. The cap is always securing tightly to the barrel. The trim is perfect with no scratches or brassing. The nib is marked 18K Sheaffer 750 and has a Stub point measuring 1.12mm when measuring with digital calipers. This Sheaffer 18K/750 Stub Nib shows no signs of ever being inked. The Inlaid Nib does show a hint of flex which is unusual for a Sheaffer inlaid Nib – it is a nice surprise. This Sheaffer Legacy Fountain Pen comes with the original box with the fountain pen in the original plastic sleeve, two ink cartridges, and Sheaffer documentation. This Sheaffer Legacy Heritage Fountain Pen has a great look and feel in the hand with a fabulous design. I would consider this Sheaffer Legacy Sterling Silver Fountain Pen to be in Mint – New Old Stock Condition. A marvelous addition to your writing arsenal collection.
