For sale is a Sheaffer Sterling Silver Imperial Touchdown filler Fountain Pen with a 14K XF Nib. The pen is in Excellent used condition, with no dings or dents. For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Mint Condition, New Old Stock, Never Inked Sheaffer White Dot Imperial Fountain Pen with Sterling Silver Diamond Grid pattern. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, and restored to write again. Replaced the old ink sac with a new, properly sized sac and barrel o-ring to update to Touchdown Filling system. Hand polished the Sterling Silver Cap, Clip, Sterling Silver Barrel, Blind Cap, and 14K inlay NIB. This fountain pen cap and barrel are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, dents, or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the cap, barrel, and blind cap to bring back the shine of the Sterling Silver of the fountain pen. The cap displays the White Dot with a Gold Filled Clip with it being stamped on the cap lip, STERLING SILVER CROWN HALLMARK/LOGO SHEAFFER U. The barrel is in great condition with no dings or denting. This Sheaffer Imperial Touchdown Filler Fountain Pen is a full-size model measuring 5 3/8″ in length capped and 5 3/4″ posted. Neither the cap nor barrel displays any monograms or personalizations. The back of the cap is retaining the original Sheaffer Imperial Sticker. This Sheaffer has a working Touchdown Filling system. I replaced the old rubber sac with a new rubber sac and changed out the old barrel o-ring with a new, properly sized authentic reproduction o-ring. I have restored, greased, and tested the Touchdown Filling mechanism with water and now works as it was intended to. This Sheaffer has a 14K Inlay Nib. The actual iridium tip on this Sheaffer Nib has a fine point measuring roughly. 57mm when measured with digital calipers. I have not written with this Sheaffer Imperial as I wanted to keep it in Mint, New Old Stock, Never Inked Condition for the next collector. This is a great Sheaffer Sterling Imperial Touchdown Model Fountain Pen is a magnificent pen that has a great presence in the hand when writing. It is extremely difficult to find this in never inked condition with the original sticker. I would grade this Sheaffer Imperial in Mint Condition. Lovely Sheaffer Legacy in sterling silver with interrupted barleycorn pattern; very little evidence of use. I would call it micro-wear. No scratches, scrapes, dings, etc. If you think you see anything like that in the pictures, it’s a trick of the lighting. In the main photo, if it appears there is a small gap between the end cap and the barrel, that is definitely a lighting issue — the end cap seats exactly as it should. I bought it new in the’90s for my large collection and used it only a few times. The Touchdown filler operates properly and the pen writes beautifully — very smooth on the paper and a nice moderate ink laydown from its Medium 18K nib. The nib is stamped SHEAFFER 18K 750 ® and something in a horizontal oval that I cannot make out. The cap band is stamped 925 STERLING SILVER SHEAFFER USA and, in a horizontal oval, STE. PF or is that PP? So that’s probably also what’s stamped on the nib. The cap seats firmly and securely when capping; it seats securely when posting. The pen is 5 3/8 long when capped. This is a beautiful pen in exceptional condition. I have enjoyed owning and using it, and I think you will, too. Late 1960s to early 1970s. Sheaffer Touchdown Bladder System – fully serviced and operational. Large, Embedded 14K 585 Solid Gold, EF Extra Fine Size – Flexible, writes up to B broad or wider. Solid 925 Sterling Silver body and cap, Gold filled trimmings. 137mm, posted at 157. Very thick pen at 12mm in diameter. The Imperial Touchdown in solid 925 silver is a sublime pen, probably one of the best designed Sheaffer pens. The pens features a stunning thick diamond mesh deep guilloche pattern over the body cap, stretching from top to bottom. In a way this pen embodies nearly all features that made previous models popular with the customers. This is a typical Sheaffer pen taken to extreme. The pen is large, 137mm and 157mm posted, but very thick at 1.2cm. Due to its weight virtually no pressure to the paper is needed, just by gliding the pen over the paper will produce a fine and consistent EF line. The nib is soft, softer than most of these Sheaffer embedded nibs. It has a decent flex, so it will produce amazing writing, from fine line to a B broad and even wider line when press while writing. Embedded nibs are unique to Sheaffer and the 14k gold nib on this pen is no different. The nib is embedded in the front section, and made such as the form factor following the body into the front section ends in the nib. Even though entirely exposed, this makes the nib more sturdy and difficult to damage. Such Sheaffer s nibs are thick and more difficult to bend even if dropped. The pen uses the famous touchdown system, where the enclosed bladder creates a small repeating negative pressure simply by pulling the lever in and out, similar action to a bicycle tire pump. It is is very easy to fill and creates minimal mess, one needs only to wipe the front section after submerging it in the bottled ink. The pen has amazing shine and glow, which is difficult to capture in photos. The pen is in mint condition with minimal signs of use, no dings or scratches.
