Antique Gorham Sterling Silver pen wipe with what looks to be the original bristles mostly intact. The sterling silver cup sits inside what looks like possibly Brass. The cup is marked sterling, Lion anchor g for Gorham, the number 10, and a symbol that as close as i can tell corresponds to being made around 1889. The cup wedges nicely into the Pedestal base with a little bit of pressure applied. This item is no doubt antique and shows it’s age, the metal has minor tarnish, dings, scratches, etc. No original box or packaging included. Dimensions and hallmarks can be seen in photos. Review listed pictures for further description and condition. Any questions please ask, thanks for looking. Offers are welcome so feel free to make one.

STUNNING RARE GEORGIAN COMBINATION GILT BRONZE (Ormolu) HAND DESK WAX SEAL-PEN WIPE. T his is a stunning Rare Georgian Combination Gilt Bronze (Ormolu) Hand Desk Wax seal and Pen Wipe, this would date to circa 1820 making it at nearly 200 years old, the detailing is stunning, the hand itself has been crafted beautifully with long slender fingers with a ring on the index finger and the most beautifully ornate bracelet set with a flower on the wrist, the hand itself is then holding the desk wax seal delicately between the index finger and thumb, the wax seal is very elegant and again is a gilt bronze (Ormolu), to the end of the wax seal it has engraved initials J B , this is then finished with a pen wipe to the wrist creating what appears to look like the arm of a glove or the sleeve of a garment, this may be a replacement as they do wear over time, its is so extremely rare and i believe this may be french, i have never seen one like this before on the market, the detailing is breath taking, you can see each nail has been carved beautifully, it is so very life like, on the wrist you will see a wonderful carved rope twist cuff bracelet set with a flower which is beautiful. The quality of the craftsmanship is superb, this i believe would have once belonged to a wealthy Gentleman and been used daily to seal his letter, he would have written his letter with a quill pen using the wipe to the end to soak up any excess ink and then folded the paper, using heated sealing wax this would have been dripped on to the edge of the letter and while still hot he would have used his seal to imprint his crest, when dry the wax would have given a secure seal to the letter, this was in a time when letter writing was very important and sent daily, if this seal could talk i bet it would have some fascinating stories to tell, this is so very tactile and once held it has the most wonderful feel. This will add something very special to any collection, my photos dont do it justice. Please study the photos as this is an extremely rare Hand wax seal and pen wipe, its so extremely rare. The hand and seal is 8.5 cm length… Combined with the pen wipe in total it is 15 cm length. All Antique silver items will show some signs of wear, which only adds to the history of the object….. EXTREMELY RARE FINE QUALITY GEORGIAN GOUT STOOL NOVELTY PEN WIPE. This is an Extremely Rare Fine Quality Georgian Novelty Pen Wipe in the Form of a Gout Stool, this was crafted circa 1800 making it 218 years old. This rare Gout Stool Pen Wipe is stunning, it has been crafted in the form of a Georgian Gout Stool, the detailing is breath taking, this has a raised curved back support angled to support a foot suffering from the painful “rich man’s” ailment. As you can see its beautiful from it’s deep blue covering for use in wiping your dip pen, to the centre is an intricately designed embroidered oval panel and elegant brocades to both curved edges, the sides and base as you can see have been crafted in a beautiful brown tooled leather with scroll work to the sides and a delicate tooled stripe to the front, on turning it over you will see it still retains its original deep red leather covering, this then stands on 4 gold gilt ball feet, its amazing it has survived in such wonderful condition, this isn’t flimsy but of a good weight and quality, it has wear as you would expect with a little brocade missing near the top and wear to the centre panel, but overall in wonderful original condition, the quality of the craftsmanship is superb. T his would have once belonged to a wealthy Georgian gentleman and sat pride of place on his writing desk and used daily to wipe the excess ink from his dip pen, this was in a time many years ago when letter writing was the only form of communication, if this could talk i bet it would have some fascinating stories to tell, It is so very tactile and once picked up has the most wonderful feel, this is an extremely rare form of Georgian pen wipe and you wont find another like this on the market, its breath taking. This will add something very special to any collection my photos dont do it justice. These wonderful elaborate gout stools would have been the treasure of the most fortunate, as Gout was a painful problem in the 18th and 19th century. We now know that it is caused by a build-up of uric acid crystals in the joints leading to inflammation and swelling and severe pain. It used to be thought a result of drinking too much port. Certainly heavy consumption of red meats and offal and alcohol are implicated, and that fits the diet of most well-off Georgian males! Nearly 6 cm across… Just over 4.5 depth…. Nearly 4 cm height. All Antique silver items will show some signs of wear, which only adds to the history of the object….. Track Page Views With. Auctiva’s FREE Counter.
