Consuelo Venderbilt, the Duchess of Marlborough saw the Imperial Blue Serpent Clock Egg on a visit to Russia and was stricken by its beauty. Shortly thereafter, Faberge was commissioned to recreate the design, which was completed in 1902, this time in Pink, bearing her initials.
