October 18, 2017 by admin | Filed under sterling.Vintage Eyedropper Fountain Pen. With a wonderful Repoussé Gold Filled overlay. Semi Flex #2 Warranted 14K Gold Nib. Please enlarge all 12 photos & read all the text for detail. Beautiful Eyedropper fountain pen a full 6 & 15/16″ posted and 5 & 5/8″ capped, an antique Eyedropper Fountain Pen that you can use. Very sturdy Hard rubber with a beautiful Sterling Silver overlay as shown, The cap is marked “STERLING” – the trim is quite bright, but it does show some patina & wear upon close inspection, The pen has no maker marks except “STERLING” and the nib markings, There is a 3 letter engraving on the overlay as shown, no cracks. The cap lip is excellent, The cap is a tapper slip fit cap, it caps very well & posts just well enough to stay posted securly. The pen does not & never had a pocket clip originally. An overall very beautiful & presentable pen :. The nib is a nice flexy and very straight & clean Warranted #2 14 Kt (as marked) Gold- good remaining iridium tipping, fairly Easy flex, nice very fine line to approx 1.6 mm with medium to heavier pressure for very nice line variation as shown. I would stay at 1.4mm or below for nib preservation, a nice straight over 100 year old 14K gold nib. Nice on Rhodia paper, more feedback on cheaper paper, Like writing with a Victorian dip pen nib. This pen was tested by actually filling the pen with ink , the section threads are excellent, and the joint between the barrel & section is very tight. It is a leak free pen. I put a little silicone on the threads also, The feed channel & section have been cleaned and are very clear, with very good ink flow- you will get different results with different inks. The pen performed very well for me after sitting inked for a while & letting the feed wet up, it did railroad a couple times, but it is a fun writer with a really old school feel. Relatively primitive but fun antique pen that you can use, Like these pens wrote originally, and especially when the pen is low on ink, the heat from your hands may occasionally cause an ink blob to occur, keeping the pen full will help, & tipping the point up once every so often will help. Occasionally shaking ink to the tip, Or keep a blotter around like they did in the old days. The Paper is from a Rhodia Dotpad No. 16, the dots are 5mm apart to help you gauge the line variation. The inks are Diamine Monaco Red, and Waterman Inspired (South Sea) Blue The writing sample was made by actually filling the pen with ink & writing with it, The writing sample will be included with the pen :.
