A stunning antique Mabie Todd Swan flex-nib fountain pen with black hard rubber barrel and unique beak-shaped nib tip for enhanced flexibility – a truly collectable. Unique Sterling Silver overlay with engine turned decorations. It is marked around the top of the barrel “Swan Pen” – Mabie Todd & Co – New York – STERLING SILVER – Made in USA. It is fitted with a flexible number 2 size nib marked’Mabie Todd & Co N. 2 – and is marked on the feed’SWAN’. It has a lever filling system with a recently replaced sac – everything is working exactly as it should. Although the nib is technically a medium, line variation can range from fine to triple-broad with the slightest pressure. It’s not a wet-noodle, but flows excellently. It was presented by newspaper staff at the Hampshire Advertiser to to JAS. Goldsmith in September 1923. This is an achingly elegant fountain pen, measuring 17.5 cm posted and 13.3 cm capped.
