I removed the filling system, cleaned the internal components, and greased the piston seal. I also tested the filling mechanism with water and it fills correctly. The Piston Filling System is functioning properly as intended. The Montblanc nib offered on this fountain pen is an 18K/750 Bi-Color NIB that writes very smoothly. The 18K Montblanc Nib writes with a very smooth “wet” line. The nib has a Medium point measuring roughly. 85mm when measured with digital calipers. When creating a writing sample, the NIB writes with a medium to broad stroke/line. The fountain pen’s writing sample provided in the images ranges from a medium stroke measuring at. 70mm to a broad stroke of 1.00mm with medium to firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Montblanc Blue-Black Ink. Obtaining one of these Montblanc 146 Sterling Silver and Guilloche Enameled Fibre fountain pens in today’s market can be quite challenging. This writing instrument is in exceptional condition and would easily be graded as Near Mint to Mint. Not only does it look fantastic, but it also writes incredibly well, making it a valuable addition to any writing arsenal collection! Please review all my images as they are part of the description. If you have any questions, please ask. I strive to find unique and difficult to find pieces that I believe will capture the attention of collectors. I spend a great deal of time traveling, talking with people, sitting at auctions and waiting in line at estate sales to find these pieces. Some of the items are “farm fresh” and some I have had in my possession for years and time to let others enjoy. If I can find out, I will. These are antiques so expect them not to be “perfect”. If you want faster service, please contact me to receive a quote. I do pack carefully, I do not want them to arrive broken. Please make sure they do, if not please request it, if you would like it added.
