Parker 180 Torsade, Silver & Black Cable Twist, Cf, Little Used, 18k Nib, Outsdg

This PARKER 180 TOSADE has reputedly one of the scarcest finishs of all the PARKER patterns. Unlike most 180’s this was a high value pen with 750 gold nib and with colors gold/black and silver/black. From my research it seems that though both are quite scarce, the black and silver is far less frequently seen… Lots of pictures on the black and silver on line, but mostly of one pen. This example is 5-1/4 long and has the slender shape of all 180’s and the familiar Parker 75 style crown at the top. It was made in France and has an 18K nib (marked 750K, last photo) and French gold touchmark opposite. The pattern was a twisted cable design formed be cutting away alternating spirals and then black enameling the pen. The surface was then polished leaving alternating colors between the cable. I called this “tooled silver” above because each cable has very fine longitudinal lining on every area of cable adding the the illusion of cabling. This pen was previously owned, but doesn’t appear to have been inked. It is a cartridge/converter pen and there is a converter installed. A beautiful and rare pen. As an aside, of the two pens I found, one was called sterling while the other called it silver plated. I could find no official company description. Hence I discretely acid tested it with a good positive test for sterling… Not that it matters on such a scarce pen.
