925 Sterling Silver Fountain Pen #004/500. Tribute to the mermaids of seafaring legend. High-relief solid sterling silver overlay, clip & trim; sea blue resin endpiece and cap. According to the tradition of Greek mythology, Sirens were fabulous marine creatures whose bodies were half woman and half fish. Not far from the coasts of Sicily, they would cast spells over passing mariners using the softness of their songs and the grace of their bodies, rendering them insensitive to hunger and thirst. The unfortunate would eventually die of starvation. Ulysse himself, as narrated in a famous part of the Odyssey, met them and was almost seduced. The death of the marine creatures is told in the Argonautiche of Apollonio Rodio where one reads that the Sirens were defeated by the mortal Orpheus, who made them fall headlong into the sea and transform into rocks, with his songs and the sound of his cithara. In 1998 Montegrappa dedicated the annual collection Sirena to the intense emotions called forth by these mythological figures with a body in blue resin coiled by an allegory of marine elements and populated by the mythical characters. The creativity and the imagination of the artist Leopoldo Aquila have so represented the fascination of temptation and the enchantment of the depths. The writing instrument comes.
